With all the rumors about Half-Life 2 flying since some source code was stolen right out of the hands of Valve, it does actually look like the game may be delayed until after the upcoming holiday season. This is contrary to reports saying that Valve would be releasing a statement in the coming days, reassuring the awaiting fans (including me, who has it one pre-order) that it will come out on the previously scheduled November 3rd release date. Not so.
Disappointed? Yes. Angry? No. I understand that if Valve wants to release a good product, they have to make sure it's a great game, and it will deliver what is expected of it. Let us not forget Warcraft III, which was delayed over a year and a half, but came out and became the best selling PC game of all time. It also won game of year honours, and the current Warcraft III expansion pack is also selling up quite a storm. Half-Life 2, when it is released will be an amazing game, and it will dazzle and show us what sorts of new technology is coming. And hopefully, it will give me enough time to upgrade.
